The success story of Lenord + Bauer began in 1965 in a basement room in the heart of Oberhausen. At that time, four entrepreneurs developed a compact industrial controller that allowed adaptation to individual customer requirements.
Much has happened since then. Meanwhile, Lenord + Bauer has about 250 employees. They work at the headquarters in Oberhausen and the production and logistics centre in the neighbouring city of Gladbeck. In China Lenord + Bauer is represented by the Lenord + Bauer Automation Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
Here you will find some milestones in the history of our company:
For reasons of age, the company's co-founders Hans Look and Dieter Westerhoff transfer their company shares to the Lenord family.
The board of management is streamlined down to a joint leadership of Paul Markus Bresser and Dr. Matthias Lenord.
Activities in China are being expanded. The foundation of Lenord + Bauer Automation Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is Lenord + Bauer's reaction to the positive market response. Chinese managing director Timo Ren not only has experience in technical sales but is also familiar with the local culture.
For five decades Lenord + Bauer has been successful on the market. A pleasant occasion to look back at 50 "eventful" years - how could it be otherwise at a specialist for motion automation. During the anniversary celebration, which took place on 19 June at the headquarters in Oberhausen, the growth of the organisation as well its plans for the future were portrayed in detail in a film.
Partners, management and staff are mourning the death of Günther Bauer, who passed away at the age of 76. Up to the time of his retirement in 1996, the electrical engineer played a decisive role in the expansion of the product range. The success of the company was based on the magnetic rotary encoders, counters, compact controls and controllers developed by him.
He was a committed partner who supported the interests of the company and of the staff even while retired. We will always have fond memories of him as a very special person.
Dr. Matthias Lenord becomes Chairman of the Management Board and Managing Director of Lenord, Bauer & Co. GmbH.
The application business is expanded by means of participation in TAR Automation GmbH in Dinslaken.
The steady growth of the company has led to a shortage of space in Oberhausen. To ensure permanent growth as well as optimised production and logistics processes, production and the production-related departments move into the 5,500 square metre production and logistics centre in the neighbouring city of Gladbeck.
Hans-Georg Wilk is leaving the management of Lenord, Bauer & Co. GmbH and advancing to Managing Director of the holding company for Elektronics Lenord GmbH & Co. He will be focusing on the further expansion of the group and the LBOffice Software GmbH in the future. Part of his assignments will be taken over by Jens Reimann, who moves on to Management as Commercial Division Manager.
Reinforcement for Sales and Marketing: Ralf Beckmann advances from Division Director to Director of Sales and Marketing. Lenord + Bauer also establishes the first subsidiary abroad. The new Representative Office in Shanghai is the local point of contact for the customers in Asia.
As managing partner, Horst Lenord shaped the fate of the company until his retirement in 1996 in a groundbreaking way; his pioneering spirit, business sense and inventiveness contributed largely to its success. His death is a deep loss to the company.
In line with continued company growth, management is expanded as well: Ulrich Marl and Burkhard Stritzke are appointed Managing Directors.
The first generation of positioning drives has been successfully placed in the market.
The product portfolio continues to grow: Lenord + Bauer develops a high-resolution, magnetic absolute rotary encoder based on the Vernier principle.
A reason to celebrate: 40 years Lenord + Bauer! The company is also expanding the promotion of young talent and launches the student competition "Innovative Technologies move Europe", to encourage the enthusiasm of young people for technology.
Lenord + Bauer successfully develops and markets new, innovative sensor elements. The company's growth continuous to be above average in the industry. With a size of meanwhile 5,400 square metres, the third expansion at the headquarters in Oberhausen provides sufficient space for development, production and distribution of the innovative Lenord + Bauer products.
Lenord + Bauer is successful in integrating the cam plate functions into control systems. The company's encoder kits are the most widely used sensors in high-speed spindles in the world.
Not only control systems are getting smaller and smaller: Lenord + Bauer develops the first encoder kit in compact design. The MiniCODER is born. Meanwhile, the building is expanded a second time for the by now more than 100 employees.
The company broadens its product portfolio by developing compact controllers for the first time. This makes the first building expansion necessary.
Lenord + Bauer develops the first electrical counters and magnetic incremental encoders for the railway industry.
The company develops the first products for the broad industrial market. The number of employees has increased to twelve, and the basement room has given way to an office building in the Königshardt district of Oberhausen.
In 1965, Günther Bauer, Horst Lenord, Hans Look and Dieter Westerhoff start Lenord, Bauer & Co. GmbH.
