The success story of Lenord + Bauer began in 1965 in a basement room in the heart of Oberhausen,
where four entrepreneurs worked on compact industrial controllers manufactured specifically to
customer specifications. Just a decade later, the company was producing standard products for the
wider industrial market for the first time - and from then on Lenord + Bauer grew at a breathtaking
pace.
The basement room soon became too small, and the partners moved, along with a workforce that had
now grown to 12, into new premises on Dohlenstraße in the Königshardt neighborhood of Oberhausen.
Here the company continued to expand its expertise and product range. In addition to electrical
counters, magnetic incremental rotary encoders took on an increasingly important role.
MiniCoders were added to the portfolio in 1993, by which time the company already employed more
than 100 people.
The associates are now gradually withdrawing from business and Hans-Georg Wilk is appointed
executive director in 1996. Under his leadership, the production of new and innovative sensor
elements is started in 2001. In 2005, Lenord + Bauer employs more than 130 persons.
Not only the product range but also the headcount and sales figures have grown consistently over
the past four decades of the company history. The premises in Dohlenstraße have also had to be
expanded to meet the company's increasing requirements. Three building extensions later, the
company's 5400 m
2 headquarters now provide ample space to develop, manufacture and market Lenord +
Bauer's innovative products. For the time being, at least.
To enhance the further development of the company the management board was extended in 2009.
Burkhard Stritzke, formerly head of development sensors, and Ulrich Marl, formerly director of
production, were appointed as managing directors. Ralf Beckmann extends the management board as
director of sales and marketing. The four now account for the further fate of the the company
employing now more than 190 employees.
