Matching cutting operation to speed of material

 The task:
Filters are produced from a continuous material web and are cut into as many as sixty different sizes online. The cutting operation needs to be matched to the material speed which is not time-stable.

 Method of solution:

A “cross cutter” is used to achieve accurate cutting. The relatively high material speed and the extremely small sizes to be produced required three water jet cutters that must be synchronized with one another and operated according to the material speed.

Three LD 2000 servoconverters – fitted with a MotionCard LD 100 and customized software ensure accurate cutting.

Switching between sizes on the fly without wasting material. The sizes/control commands are predefined via the Profibus DP.
