| Eccentric punching press for manufacturing expanded gratings |
|
|
The task:
The control system for the press used to manufacture expanded gratings was to be converted from
a mechanical to an electrical solution.
Aim:
- Increased flexibility
- Shorter resetting times
Method of solution:
A complete control system with individual operator module was developed for the eccentric
press.
Our solution:
The eccentric press operates at a rate of 500 cycles per minute and must maintain positional
accuracy of ± 0.02 mm. For the positioning operation, a press angle of 120° is essential in order
to ensure that the material is stationary when it comes into contact with the cutter. The GEL
209VN05000 senses the precise eccentric position while the LD 2006 servoconverter controls the
material feed. Also integrated into the system were the 6SM 57M3000 synchro servo motor with planet
gear and the LD 100 cam-plate module with PLC functions, thus enabling individual control. With the
GEL 8819 operator terminal and the software developed by Lenord + Bauer, three different operating
modes can now be selected for the press, namely manual mode, continuous positioning of a nominal
length and parts counting mode. Various operating parameters can also be displayed, making the
machine much simpler to operate.
Our service offering:
Problem analysis, complete process engineering, project management, software programming, on-site
commissioning
Customer benefits:
- Easy resetting for different mesh lengths
- Significantly shorter resetting times (now just 1 – 2 minutes, down from 15 - 20
minutes)
- Larger mesh sizes possible
- Non expanded edge freely selectable
- Excellent usability
Why Lenord + Bauer?
- Lenord + Bauer were able to guarantee precise positioning of the eccentric press even at this
high number of operating cycles per minute
- Technically very sophisticated problem solving competence
