The task:
As prime contractor, Lenord + Bauer is equipping the vehicle elevators in car parks with
electronic control systems to automate the parking and retrieval of vehicles.
Aim:
- Automation of car park logistics
Method of solution:
In three show towers built recently by a leading auto manufacturer, cars were to be parked and
retrieved smoothly and automatically.
Our solution:
Sequence control for three parking towers each with 11 storage bays. The control unit is the GEL
8230 MotionController in conjunction with local I/O modules that are connected to the control unit
via a CAN bus.
The following control components are used:
- Three control cabinets (containing equipment for voltage generation and distribution,
switchgear, MotionController, frequency converters (including mains filter/choke and brake
chopper), terminal strips)
- Elevator motor with gearbox
- Palette transport motor with gearbox
- Sensors and initiators for elevator positioning and floor identification
- SSI angle encoders for palette position sensing
- Local operating console (number depending on equipment level)
- Door controller (number depending on equipment level)
- Limit switches/initiators
Equipment features of the towers:
- Tower 1 has an entrance/exit on the first floor with operating console
- Tower 2 has an entrance/exit on the second floor with operating console
- Tower 3 has an entrance/exit on the first floor with operating console and an entrance/exit on
the second floor with operating console.
Operation:
Operation of the parking towers is automated by means of the local operating consoles at the
entrances/exits. The towers can be operated in semi-automatic or jog mode from the controller in
the control cabinet.
